3D CAD models
StreetMapper is a rapid mapping laser scanning system capable of capturing data at speeds of up to 60mph. Therefore long stretches of road can be surveyed very quickly. Once the route has been driven by StreetMapper, the resulting point cloud can be used to create detailed CAD models of areas of concern such as tight corners and roundabouts.

Pinch Points
Using TerraSolid's TerraScan software, pinch points can be identified within the StreetMapper point cloud. The animation below shows a series of cross-sections along an A-road with the pinch points identified in red. Once the locations of the pinch points have been identified further analysis can be undertaken using CAD models created from the point cloud.
